He is survived by his wife, Lu Ann; step-daughter, Marissa Carmen; brothers, Gabby, of Calif.; Leroy Gabayan, of Virg.; and David Gabayan, of Hawaii; children, Gilbert Gabayan, Jr., of Hawaii; Geoffrey Gabayan, of Hawaii; Kelly-Lynn Gabayan, of Okinawa, Japan; nephews and nieces, Sean, of Ariz.; Pamela Salvador, of Hawaii; Anna, of Hawaii; Billy Bernal, of Hawaii; Sharolyn Gabayan, Ember Kalama, of Alaska; Davie Gabayan, of Ariz.; Christopher Gabayan, of Alaska; Tracy Nolan, of Alaska; and Jesse Gabayan, of Alaska; and their children, James Gabayan, Mya Nolan, Rachael Nolan, Aaron Nolan, James Hoodecheck, Kalani Hoodecheck and Matthew Hoodecheck.
Gilbert "Kiwi" lived in Anchorage, and traveled to and from Fairbanks to visit family.
He resided in Hawaii where he raised his eldest children and took to martial arts.
Kiwi was a man of many talents as he worked various jobs. He would do anything that he would find joy in. Kiwi lived an adventurous life and traveled to many places.
He had a sense of humor like no other. When Kiwi wanted to be found, he would make himself known. Kiwi lived life on the edge, and he enjoyed pushing the world to its limits.
At the end of it all, we lose a person who knew how to get things done. It's not try, it's do!
We will miss you, Kiwi.
There will be services held, and those details are to come.
Services are to be held in different locations, as he traveled to many places and met people all over.
