Dale A. Rixie, of Springfield, Mo., passed away on Jan. 15, 2013, of heart failure. Dale was born in Waukegan, Ill., on Aug. 20, 1963. He was 49 years old.|
Dale had been suffering heart attacks and strokes for the past few years.
Before moving to Alaska, he owned a few businesses in Waukegan. In February 1991, Dale met Tina and they were married in May of the same year. They decided to move to Fairbanks one year later.
In Alaska, Dale started North Star Towing in 1993, six months later, he and his business partner of 17 years, Marc Golat, started North Star Auto Sales.
Dale retired July 1, 2011, and moved to Missouri to spend time with his family.
Dale was preceeded in death by his father, Jack Rixie, and his mother, Diane N. Rixie; his brother, Skipper Rixie; and daughter, Christine M. Rixie; and his best friend of 33 years, John (Peter) Seymour.
Dale is survived by his wife of nearly 22 years, Tina Rixie, of Springfield, Mo.; his son, Devon Myers, of Los Angeles; daughter, Jessica, of New Jersey; son, Alex, of New Jersey; his son, Howard S. Rixie, of Springfield, Mo.; his grandkids, Drake, Harlyene and Von; his three brothers, Danny Rixie (Patty Rixie), of Beach Park, Ill.; Howard S. Rixie Sr. (Dorothy Rixie), of Salcha; and Michael Rixie, of Fairbanks; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles; and good friends, Chris and Joy Stagdon, Marc and Karen Golat, Clyde Cox and Vikki Doggett, and many more friends.
He will be missed.
A service for Dale is scheduled from 5-6 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2013, at the Community Covenant Church, 2136 McCullam Ave. For directions, call 907-456-6553. There will be a potluck at the church from 6-8 p.m. following the service.
