Edward R. Sanders, 79, following a short bout with cancer, passed away in the comfort of his home on March 3, 2013, in Kalispell, Mont. |
Born in Milwaukee, Wis., May 16, 1933, Ed lived life to the fullest. He was a boxer in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division and the only survivor of an airplane crash.
Following a move to Fairbanks, and not wanting to continue in the chiropractic profession for which he had been trained, he turned to home construction, piano tuning and goldpanning.
In 1974, he came to Kalispell, where he became a world-class picture framer. Tennis, marathon running and bicycling were his passions. On any given day you could find Ed on the tennis court helping others, young and old, improve their game.
Always smiling and telling jokes, Ed was a gentle man, a kind and loving husband and a generous and loyal friend. He touched many lives and inspired us all.
Ed is survived by his wife, Jan; sons, Eddie and Gary Sanders, of North Carolina; daughter, Torrie McMillan, of Seattle; step-daughter, Erica Neils; five grand-children, Breanna, Hunter, Gary, Tiffany and Nicole; and one great-grandchild, Lacy.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home is caring for Ed's family. You are invited to view Ed's tribute wall at www.jgfuneralhome.com, offer condolences and share memories.
