James Fredrick Flagg, passed away peacefully at the Veteran Adm. Hospital, in Durham, on Sunday, May 5, 2013.
He was born on August 16, 1921, to the late John Wayne and Katie Robinson Flagg of the Oberlin community. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII from 1940-1946.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie G. Flagg and daughter, Shirley Ann.
He is survived by his son, Fredrick and his wife Sandra of Raleigh; daughter, Gail F. Cromwell and husband, Rev. George T. Cromwell, Sr., Garner, NC; grandchildren, Antoinette Nicole Thompson and Germaine Thompson, Philadelphia, PA and Rodney Sherman Flagg, Jr. of the home; great-grandchildren, Rashawn Alston, Tulsa, OK and Ashlei Curtis, Raleigh, NC.
A Memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2013, at 2:00 pm at the C.A. Haywood Sr. Memorial Chapel preceded by a 1:30 pm visitation.
