The Reverend Walter Wallace Anderson, Jr. Ph.D. Wilson The Reverend Walter Wallace Anderson, Jr. Ph.D., 87, passed away Thursday, February 19, 2015 at the Wilson Medical Center. A celebration of Walter's life will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 1725 North New Hope Road, Raleigh, NC with the Rev. Lorraine Ljunggren officiating. Proceeded in death by his wife Eileen Fitzgerald Anderson, Walter is survived by his son John Anderson and his wife Heather of Hiram, GA, his son Eric Anderson and his wife Michelle of Chattanooga, TN, his grandchildren Samantha and John, his brother Elmer and his wife Eula of Jetersville, VA, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Walter was born on August, 31, 1927 in Jetersville, VA to Nannie Jeter Anderson and Walter Wallace Anderson, Sr. He earned his undergraduate degree from Richmond University, VA, completed seminary at Lexington Theological Seminary, KY, was ordained into the ministry through the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and earned his Ph.D. in History from the University of St. Andrews in St Andrews, Scotland. He served as Minister of Jetersville Christian Church, VA and Wendell Christian Church, NC. He served as a professor of History at Barton College, formerly Atlantic Christian College. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hope Station, Wilson County Interfaith Services, Inc. at 309 Goldsboro Street East, PO Box 2164, Wilson, NC, 27894.
