When I was visiting Joe, I looked out of the window & saw a strange animal peering in. I called to Joe to report this and he responded, "It's just my neighbor's dog." I answered that does not look like a dog to me. He came to see for himself & to his surprise & mine, it was a MOOSE. A Moose was loose? He delighted repeating this story and would chuckle every time.

I am sorry to lose a family member although I never met Joe. I am the grandson of John F. Deeds, Joe's uncle. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I do see Ruth Winders on occasion, she is such a wonderful person and Joe must have been as well.

Dear Deeds Family,
I was very sorry to have heard of Joe's death. It did sound as if he was out living his life when he was taken, and I hope from that you recieve some comfort. I met him at John Deed's 80th birthday weekend in east Tennessee and we enjoyed a nice conversation that weekend. This is a loss for all of us, but especially you, and you will all be in my prayers.

At Joe's memorial service Saturday we will CELEBRATE Joe's life. His children and grandchildren will be there to celebrate too. They have requested that everyone share a story about Joe. There will be an opportunity during the service for everyone to share something about Joe. If you prefer write it out and give it to one of his children. Please give this special gift to those who will miss him so very much. Jane A niece (favorite)
