Apex
Frederick Edward Rewkowski, 54, of Apex, died Friday, February 21, 2014 at Rex Hospital. He was born on October 1, 1959 in Brooklyn, NY to Frederick T. Rewkowski and Margaret Quintin Rewkowski. Fred moved to North Carolina in 2000. He served the Apex Community as the Chaplain of Apex Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Rewkowski; son: Matthew Rewkowski; daughters: Kristin and Kaitlyn Rewkowski; sisters: Carol Cayton and husband, Russell of Raleigh, Margaret Prusik and husband, Anthony of Apex, and Dolores Rewkowski of Apex. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Monday, February 24, 2014 at Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St., Apex. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Apex Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Kidney Fund or to American Diabetes Association.

Fred was always full of joy and humor. Whenever I saw him he would greet me with affection and we would always share a laugh. My prayers are with his family - we will all miss our dear brother in Christ, until we see him again. I did not know that his voice had returned - what a blessing! And now he is perfection! Fred is home with his Savior.

I am so sorry .... But rejoice he is now in Heaven. Fred had a strength about him and yet was funny as well and will always remember when we were baptized together and he texted me to ask me if I could find him a hair dryer to dry his hair so funny and you will be missed by so many people you touched.

My husband passed away eight years ago when my youngest son was only four.
He became very insecure and would cling to my leg when anyone spoke to him,
except when he was around Fred. He could make my son smile and forget
his insecurities. Maybe our husbands will meet in heaven and figure out the connection.

I'm so sad to hear of this news. I always enjoyed talking to Fred, even without his voice. Was so excited to hear that his voice had returned! He was a very funny, loving and compassionately caring guy. He will be missed by all. Grateful to know he is in the presence of his Savior worshiping and praising Him at his feet.

I am so saddened to hear this news, but rejoice that Fred is now in the presence of his God and Savior. My condolences go out to Fred's family at this difficult time. Fred was one of several men in a Thursday morning fellowship time at Chick-fil-A a few years back, and he always lit up the place and had great things to contribute.
May the God of Peace bring strength and comfort.

So glad I got to see Fred when I was in NC in January. He did so much suffering, I am sure he is in a better place.
I am sorry I will not be there with you Donna as you go through the funeral. My thoughts and prayers will be with you and family.
