Clifton Yates House
Clifton Yates "Chippy," "Cliff," or "Snake" House, 63, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 7, 2013, at his home. He was born July 17, 1950 in Wake County to Christine Yates House and the late Unice Clifton House. Chippy graduated from Vaiden Whitley High School and Campbell College. He honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps
, 2d ReconBn, 2d MarDiv. He was a bayonet instructor and machine gunner and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Meritorious Mast. Until his death, Cliff worked as a Senior Resource Analyst for ElectriCities of North Carolina for 19 years. He also worked as a Senior Nuclear Fuel Specialist for Carolina Power & Light Company for 19 years. He was known as the consummate "quiet professional" during his electrical power career, a moniker which describes many current and former recon marines. Grandpa Snake was a loving, faithful, and kind son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at 3:00 pm, Thursday, October 10, 2013, at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545. Burial will follow in the House Family Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends from 7:00 to 9:00 pm, Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at the funeral home and other times at the home.
He is survived by his wife whom he married on April 2, 1977: Nancy Arnold House; son: Eric N. House (Ellen) of Zebulon; daughter: Kristie House Lawrence (Andy) of Smithfield; mother: Christine Yates House of Knightdale; grandson: Vance Yates "Van" Lawrence; sister: Cynthia House Massey of Chapel Hill; nephews: Will Massey and family and Wes Massey and family; one cousin in the Yates family and numerous cousins in the House family; sister-in-law: and Prof. Sue Arnold of Lubbock, TX. He is also survived by his faithful 18-year-old cat: Bambi Sue.
