Broderick Parrott Obituary

Smithfield
Broderick W. Parrott, age 50, of Smithfield died at his home on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 surrounded by his family following a battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Johnston County on July 27, 1964, he was the son of Janie Norton of Selma and the late Etheridge Brodie Parrott. Broderick was a general contractor who had been in the building business for over 32 years. He enjoyed attending both Corinth United Methodist Church in Four Oaks and more recently Temple Baptist Church in Selma.
A Celebratory Service will be held Saturday at 1000 AM in Temple Baptist Church with Rev. Rodney Pearce, Rev. Gary Killebrew and Rev. Percy Coleman officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. Burial will be private.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Kirstin Johnson Parrott; sons Josh Parrott and wife Olivia of Smithfield, Chandler Parrott of Smithfield; daughter Katy Parrott Arthur and husband Aaron of Pine Level; brothers Jason Parrott of the Phillipines, Luther Parrott of Kenly, Rodney Pyatt of Four Oaks and Justin Parrott of Smithfield; and grandchildren Mattie and Mason.
Broderick lived a life of serving others, working hard, helping the needy, loving his friends and family and being thankful for all God's blessings. He was a selfless, caring, thoughtful, humorous, supportive, friendly, loving, kind-hearted, devoted, gentle and generous man who will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Broderick's memory may be made to the Emily K. Center. Checks should be made payable to Kirstin Parrott with Emily K Center in the memo box and may be dropped off at any branch of Four Oaks Bank or at the service on Saturday.

I don't know the family but I have been following Broderick's journey on facebook. I was diagnosed with cancer this past September. As I read the facebook posts, I could see God in the mix. i meet Broderick and Jason on the corner of Tower and Lizzie st when we were teenagers we hung out at Hilly"s store and the park we were part of the Lizzie mill crew and we always will be Broderick always wanted to raise a family and be a good father a good father he was he always meant well no matter what he did he wanted to do right by everyone around him i will always be proud of Broderick i knew how he felt when we were kids u became more the man than u every though you would be u fought the good fight my heart is heavy for everyone who knew him may you rest in peace my brother

Broderick was an incredible person...a man your family can be truely proud of. He was loved & admired by so many people. Broderick moved into my neighborhood during my teenage years and instantly became a friend to me. We were always playing ball at moms house or at the nearby park. Later on in life when we would run into each other he would always talk about those simpler times and how much fun we had. my friend, you were right they were great times that i will always cherish.
