Eloise N. Boyette died peacefully on October 24, 2011. She was born to Arthur and Dula McLamb Neighbors on April 23, 1925 in Harnett County, North Carolina.
Granny, as she was affectionately known after her grandchildren began to arrive, was employed at various times during her life as a nurse, an office manager, a buyer in womens' apparel, and as an election judge. But her primary occupation was that of a homemaker, devoted wife and mother, at which she excelled.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 65 years, John K. Boyette. She and John reared their family in Fayetteville, and in their later years, retired to Asheville. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Robert and Mary Charles Boyette and Richard Boyette and Beth Fleishman, of Raleigh, and Nancy and Glenn Miller of Asheville; grandchildren and spouses, Katherine and Mark Griffith of Raleigh, Page and Chris Curtin of Menlo Park, California, Erin and Josiah Lamp of Worcester, Massachusetts, John and Meredith Miller of Raleigh, Rachel Boyette of Besançon, France; five great grandchildren, and her brother, Sib Neighbors, of Benson. She was predeceased by another brother, Joseph A. Neighbors, of Benson.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff on the second floor of Deerfield Assisted Living that cared for Granny with skill and loving care above and beyond what was expected and Four Seasons Hospice for the tenderness and care they showed, not only Mom, but the family.
A memorial service will be held at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian, 72 Long Shoals Road in Arden at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, October 26, 2011.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to AB Tech Community College Foundation, Boyette Family Scholarship, 340 Victoria Road, Asheville, NC 28801, or Four Season Hospice, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
