David St. Pierre "Pete" DuBose, Jr. was born on August 22, 1931 in Baltimore, MD. He was the oldest son of David St. Pierre DuBose and Laura Valinda Hill DuBose. He graduated from Duke University with a degree in Civil Engineering. He received a Masters Degree in Structural Engineering at the University of Illinois. After graduation, Pete taught algebra at the San Antonio College and was employed by Southwest Research Institute.

Pete enjoyed sharing his love of hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren. His was active in his church and a member of the Durham Rotary Club. Pete was a founder of Caring House and established the Caring House Endowment Fund in Durham, NC. Pete was often seen enjoying good food and spirits with friends and family on the back porch of his Morehead City home.

Pete was married to his lifelong sweetheart, Anna Frank "Frankie" Strosnider on September 4, 1953. Pete and Frankie's 60 year romance resulted in five children and eleven grandchildren. Together Pete and Frankie taught lifelong lessons about faith, family, and friends. Frankie was instrumental in converting Pete into an avid Carolina fan enjoying countless basketball and football games.

Pete is survived by his brother, Dr. John McNeely DuBose and his sister, Faison DuBose Boylayer; his daughter, Anna DuBose Doughton (husband J.H. (Bud) Doughton) son, David St. Pierre (Peter) DuBose III (wife Evelyn Hoover DuBose), son, Charles Franklin DuBose (wife Sally Peters DuBose) daughter, Valinda DuBose Coates (husband Dr. Gerald L. Coates) daughter, Nancy DuBose Greenway (husband Garland D Greenway lll). Grandchildren: Horton Doughton,(Lisl), Lawre Doughton, Petey DuBose, Sarah DuBose, Blissie DuBose, Drennen DuBose, Jerry Coates, Anderson Coates, Garland Greenway, Christian Greenway, William Greenway.

The Lord has welcomed Pete DuBose in Heaven and will bless and protect him forever.

There will be a Celebration of Life at the Church of the Good Shepherd on April 22 at 11:30 a.m. with a reception following.

In lieu of flowers, memorials, may be made in Pete's honor to the Caring House Endowment Fund, 2625 Pickett Road, Durham NC 27705 or Church of the Good Shepherd, 3741 Garrett Road, Durham NC 27705.
