On this anniversary of his passing, I frequently remember Dr. Bondurant as a Dean who knew me and warmly greeted me by name. He worked tirelessly and effectively for his friends, his patients and the school he guided so skillfully. Everyone who enjoyed his attention was left the better for it. His memory remains a challenge for us all the emulate and after whom we can well model our own efforts.

I will surely remember him. We were senior residents together at the old Peter Bent Brigham. He was a brilliant physician and a loyal friend.

I was a senior resident in medicine at the then Peter Bent Brigham Hospital in 1958-59. There I met Stuart. We had a wonderful year together. I recognized him then as a wise, very kind and gentle physician. Since then our paths have crossed in many organizations to which he has regularly added luster.
I am deeply sorry that American medicine has lost Stuart. He is irreplaceable.
I offer my profound sympathy to Stuart's family, to the University of North Carolina and to American Medicine. Where Stuart sat was surely the head of the table.

His philosophy on education for all for the betterment of mankind lives on and is exponentially expanded through the comprehensive curriculum reform experienced by the thousands of students he touched, trained, encouraged, and influenced. I am a more thoughtful physician and a more compassionate administrator because of him.

My sympathy goes out to all the family. We had only brief conversations when Dr. Bondurant came into the Dean's Office. He struck me right away as quiet soft spoken, wise and very kind man. I instantly took a liking to him and I will miss his presence in our office. - Pat McKenzie
