Hartwell Lamar Graham, Jr, died on March 31, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Alice Graham Harrison, and his grandson, John Thomas Morrison.
Hartwell was born in Goldsboro, NC on September 26, 1922. He attended Goldsboro city schools, and graduated from high school in 1939. He also graduated from North Carolina State University in 1943 with a degree in Chemical Engineering.
Hartwell served his country in World War II in the 92nd Chemical Mortar Battalion in the European Theater. During his career, he worked for the Factory Mutual Organization until his retirement in 1987.
He and his wife Bettie lived in Charlotte until moving to Raleigh in 2006 to live at Springmoor Retirement Community. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Hartwell is survived by his wife of 63 years, Bettie Kenyon Graham; his two daughters, Betsy Morrison (husband, Tom Morrison) and Helen Roberts (husband, Bo Roberts); four grandchildren, Anna Morrison, Graham Roberts (wife, Rachel Roberts), Hart Roberts, and Lucy Roberts; and two great grandchildren, Beau Roberts and Reagan Roberts.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2014, at 3:00 in the Springmoor Auditorium.
