H. Clarence Love

Fearrington Village, NC formerly of Kenbridge, VA

88, died July 2, 2014 at Galloway Ridge Retirement Community. He was born January 27, 1926 in Kenbridge, VA to the late Bernice Aubrey and May C. Love. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Aubrey and Arthur and by his sister Bernie May Bridgforth. He graduated from Kenbridge High School and from his beloved VA Tech in Business Administration after serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. While serving in the Navy he piloted a Higgins landing craft and transported troops to the beach during the Battle of Okinawa. He entered the Tobacco Business as his family for generations had done. He was formerly President of Commonwealth Tobacco Co. in Kenbridge, a part of Dibrell Bros. in Danville, VA. He has served as President of Lunenburg Country Club, The Finance Committee of Kenbridge United Methodist Church, A Director of Benchmark Community Bank and finally Chairman of the Board until his retirement. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margaret (Maggie) E. Love; two sons, G. Bruce Love of Richmond and Michael E Love, his wife Susan; grandsons, Christopher and Carter all of Charlotte, N.C. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:30-8PM at the Clarke Funeral Home, Kenbridge. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 11AM in the Kenbridge Heights Cemetery, Kenbridge with Reverend Tim Beck and Reverend Earl Pinchbeck officiating.
