Dear Mr. and Mrs. Poythress,
It is with a heavy heart that we send this message to you. Sadly, we have learned about the passing of your beloved son Craig. There are simply no words that can adequately express what it is to suffer the loss of a beloved child. We are bereaved parents who have suffered this devastating loss. We want to reach out to you in behalf of our group The Compassionate Friends of Wake County, a non-profit and non-denominational support group that consists solely of parents who have lost a child. We are part of the worldwide organization The Compassionate Friends which can be accessed at www.compassionatefriends.org. Our website is on the latter which you can get to by clicking on Chapter Locator and then going to NC. Our group meets twice a month in Raleigh. If you have any questions, please call our message line 919-833-4022. There is always a bereaved parent on call who should get back to you in one to three days. We are so sorry for your loss and please know that you and your precious child are in our thoughts and prayers.

Please know how deeply sorry we are for your loss. I met Terry once through my son George Crane who now builds in Brunswick County. George spoke about your son Craig when he was here at Christmas. I was praying for a positive outcome for him. Sunday a week ago I attended a funeral for Alison Perkins Woods (32) in Greensboro who also attended Apex High School and was diagonsed in February with Glioblastoma stage 4. There were 2 more cancer deaths this year belonging to friends, both young men who were about 20, one the son of a missionary, the other a high school student. I discovered an article in the N&O in May about a book written by a Duke Theologian who lost his son at 33 to a form of cancer; "Stations of the Heart": Parting with a Son" It is a testimony of his faith which was tested but survives. Perhaps at some point this book can bring some Peace to you. May your son rest in Peace in the arms of Jesus.

Dear Heather, Grayson, Aunt Carol, Uncle Terry, and Steve,
I am so sorry for your loss. I am sending you lots of love and prayers at this difficult time.
I'll always remember Craig's great sense of humor. He had a great laugh and smile. Every time we'd all get together, he'd always make a joke or draw a picture that would make everyone laugh. Whenever Grampy would get back to Massachusetts from North Carolina, he'd always have a dozen stories about Craig's jokes and pranks, and we'd all laugh. I really admired his positive attitude. The bravery and grace with which all of you dealt with his cancer diagnosis was inspirational.
Take care and God bless.
