Helen Marie DiMauro Nooney 80 passed away on Friday August 21st, 2015 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born October 29th 1934 in Boston Massachusetts. She lived and worked in Boston until she was 21 years old and then moved to California. She met the love of her life, Jean Nooney in 1957. They were married shortly after on November 24th and were together for 58 years, they lived in Manhattan Beach where they started their family having their children, daughter Cinder Jean and son Ross. In 1969 they moved to Goleta California. While raising their children, she attended nursing school and earned an LVN certificate. She worked as a nurse for many years and after retirement she became very involved with Saint Raphael's church as a teacher of the CCD Holy Communion class, Sociable Seniors Director, singer with Bob and Patti Burnham at Sunday Masses, and Martha's Ministry. She was also a volunteer nurse for the Santa Barbara Rescue Mission for several years and also did volunteer nursing for the Red Cross disaster relief organization. Helen had a passion and love for music. In her younger years she was an opera singer and she toured with the Boston symphony orchestra. She will truly be missed by all, especially her husband, Jean, daughter, Cinder (Tom Bucy) son Ross (Sue) Grandchildren, Robert Nooney (Kelli), Melissa Gutierrez (Armando) and Great grandchildren Blake Gutierrez, Madeline Gutierrez, Reese McCall Nooney, her brother Sabastian DiMauro and all her nieces and nephews. A special Thank You to the Hospice Home Care (Denise and Martha), Serenity home, all her friends and neighbors who came to her side to pray with her. The Celebration Mass will be held at Saint Raphael's church 5444 Hollister Ave, Santa Barbara on Friday, September 4th at 10am with a reception luncheon immediately following. Flowers may be sent directly to the church for the service or if you wish to donate to her charity of choice, Please donate to "The Saint Raphael's Youth Ministry".
