DOROTHY MAE AMYX, (NEE HANNUM) BORN JULY 7,192 1, PASSED AWAY QUIETLY ON JANUARY 18, 2013, IN THE COMPANY OF HER FAMILY. DOROTHY WAS DEVOTED TO HER SON, MONTY, AND GRAND CHILDREN, BRANDON AND CRISTAL, AS WELL AS THEIR SPOUSES EILEEN AND ANGUS, HER FORMER DAUGHTER IN-LAW, DARLENE, AND HER GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, ZACHARY, OLIVIA AND KAVANAUGH. DOROTHY WAS BORN IN IOWA, THE YOUNGEST OF EIGHT BROTHERS AND SISTERS, MOST OF WHOM BECAME TEACHERS. WHEN DOROTHY WAS IN HER EARLY TWENTIES SHE MOVED TO LOS ANGELES AND WORKED AT NORTHRUP AVIATION. IN HOLLYWOOD, SHE MET HER HUSBAND TO BE, HURST BRECKENRIDGE AMYX. AFTER HELPING HURST OWN AND RUN THE MOUNT LEMON LODGE IN THE CATALINA MOUNTAINS, SHE WORKED WITH HURST IN TELEVISION AND RADIO INDUSTRY AND POLITICAL ACTION COMPANIES, IN TUCSON. SHE MOVED TO HOLLYWOOD AND WORKED IN THE MAIN OFFICE OF THE MARIAN FROSTIG CENTER AND THEN AS PAIGE RENSE' ASSISTANT AT ARCHITECTURAL DIGEST. IN 1973 DOROTHY MOVED TO SANTA BARBARA TO BE CLOSER TO HER SON AND HIS FAMILY, AND SHE HELPED WORK IN THE ADMIN OFFICE STARTING CASA DORINDA. LATER SHE WORKED IN THE FRONT OFFICE OF TICOR TITLE, ACROSS FROM THE COURTHOUSE, FROM WHICH SHE RETIRED. BEFORE HURST DIED IN 1995, SHE ACCOMPANIED HIM AROUND THE COUNTRY IN A TWO YEAR MOTOR HOME QUEST TO VISIT ALL OF THE GREAT PARKS AND MONUMENTS. DURING THIS PAST THREE YEARS SHE WAS LOVINGLY CARED FOR BY THE OWNERS AND STAFF AT ABUNDANT CARE, AND FINALLY BY HER DEVOTED FORMER DAUGHTER IN-LAW, DARLENE. SHE WILL BE GREATLY MISSED BY ALL OF FRIENDS AND FAMILY.
