96, a native of Santa Barbara passed away April 13, 2014. "Liz" was born August 4, 1917 to Fred and Pearl Stevens, she lived all but a couple of years on her family ranch in Santa Barbara.

Fred Stevens was County Supervisor as well as active in bringing water to the Goleta Valley in the early 50's via the Cachuma Lake and Bradbury Dam.

Liz was active in sports during her years at Santa Barbara High School, earning her lettered sweater as did all of her friends playing baseball, basket- ball and volleyball. These same friends after high school casually formed The Variety Club in 1937 the year they graduated and met once a month. They participated in a variety of activities throughout town-roller skating, miniature golf, movies and so forth. In 1986 the group celebrated their 50th Anniversary and continued to meet mostly for lunch at each other homes, then as the years progressed they went to restaurants.. until their health would no longer permit. Liz and a few others met up into their late 80's continuing to meet for lunch.

Liz loved golf and played from the time she was in her 40's. She and husband Charlie Waugh enjoyed many years as members of Santa Barbara Elks Lodge, The San Marcos Country Club, The Valley Country Club in Lompoc and also as members at La Cumbre Country Club for over 40 years, enjoying golf and bridge in it's lovely setting. Liz was also a member of The Sandpiper Women's Golf Club and won many awards playing golf over the years at these clubs..one of her hobby's was playing at as many golf courses as she could, she made it to 126 around the country.

Liz married Charlie R. Waugh in March 5, 1950 he preceded her in death in 1996, she was also preceded in death by her three brothers William Stevens, Robert Stevens and Warren Stevens. Local survivors include nieces and nephews, Carol Ann Van Fossen-Knight and her husband Tim Knight, Heather Van Fossen, Lorren Van Fossen and wife Lina, Linda Stevens, Dickie Stevens, Dondi Stevens and wife Joliene, Virginia and Ron Cline, Bobbi and David Gamble, Susie and Duane Serritslev, and many great nieces and nephews.
