Passed away peacefully on February 6, 2013 in Santa Barbara. Marge was born on November 20, 1925 in Michigan City, Indiana to Howard and Mabel Jones. She attended college in Florida and Michigan, graduating from the University of Michigan with a degree in Music Education. She married Lloyd H. DeVaux in 1949. They moved their young family to California in 1959, eventually settling in Goleta. After obtaining her teaching credential from UCSB in 1966, Marge was "Mrs. DeVaux" to 3rd and 4th graders in the Goleta Union School District for 23 years at Kellogg, Fairview, Ellwood and Mountain View schools. She found her work with children highly rewarding and will be remembered as a talented and dedicated teacher. After retiring in 1989, Marge enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and her beloved dogs. She painted, read, traveled a bit and took up needlepoint, which she loved. Marge was preceded in death by her husband and her brother William M. Jones. She is survived by her son Chris (Marcia) DeVaux, of Santa Barbara, CA; daughter Susan (Michael Falzone) DeVaux and granddaughter Catherine Falzone, of Altadena, CA; sister-in- law Shirley Jones and nephews Barry Jones and Bruce Jones and their families, of Richmond, VA. The family wishes to express special thanks to the loving caregivers and staff at Villa Alamar. Friends who so wish may contribute to the Alzheimer's Association, an animal shelter or the charity of their choice in Marge's memory.
