90, of Sun City Shadow Hills, CA passed away on October 13, 2013 in Palm Desert, CA of Alzheimer's disease.

Bill was born June 23, 1923 to Henry Franklin Dempsey and Emily (Fowler) Dempsey in Glencoe, Maryland.

He married Dorothy on February 16, 1980 in Santa Barbara, CA.

He served in the United States Military from 1940 - 1968. First serving in the U.S. Marines and then U.S. Army as a Master Sergeant E-8. During his service, Bill received many commendations, two of which were the Oak Leaf Cluster and the Purple Heart.

He was a security officer at Santa Barbara College. He was a Master Mason in Santa Barbara in 1980.

Bill is survived by his wife, Dorothy Dempsey of Sun City Shadow Hills, grandchildren and great-grandchildren from Decatur, IL.

A Graveside Service will be held at Riverside National Cemetery on Friday, November 15, 2013 at 12:45PM. FitzHenry-Wiefels Palm Desert is entrusted with arrangements.
