Edward Styles Carrillo

The Guest Book is expired.

Passed away peacefully on February 12,2013. He was born on November 2, 1919 in Santa Barbara, California to Edward M. Carrillo and Estella Shaw Carrillo. He attended Dolores Catholic Elementary School and Santa Barbara High School, graduating in 1938.

During World War II Edward joined the Coast Guard and was stationed in the Santa Cruz. After the end of the war, Edward, his wife Annette and their first born son, Edward Gary, returned to his beloved Santa Barbara where their second son Mark Richard was born. In 1978, he purchased City Meat Market on Chapala and Figueroa in downtown Santa Barbara. Edward was a hard working happy man who enjoyed running City Market for many years.

In 1982, Edward retired and became a member of the Lyons, Cosmopolitan Club, Garden Club, and the "Eds Club". He was always happy to see his friends. Edward enjoyed being a court house docent for several years, taking visitors around the building he had seen constructed during the depression. He was very proud of Santa Barbara, especially the courthouse. He loved everything "Santa Barbara".

Edward is survived by his sons, Edward Gary (Anna), Mark Richard (Cynthia), his grand children, Mark (Jennifer), Joseph, Janina Ma (Peter), Lara, and his great grandchildren Juliana, Isabella, Nathaniel, Ryah and Zia.

Services will be held at the historic Presidio Chapel on Friday, February 22, 2013 at 11:00 am, a place where his family was part of the original Santa Barbara Garrison.

We ask that in lieu of flowers you make a donation to your charity of choice. Please consider the less fortunate during this season of lent.

Edward was a gentle, kind, hard working, man who touched the lives of those he met. With his simple humor, generosity, and kind heart, he is unforgettable. Blessed be the memory of Edward Styles Carrillo.
