75, of Lompoc, passed away June 12, 2014 surrounded by his family.

Billy was born, June 11, 1939, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He enlisted with the Air Force in 1957. He met and married his wife, Maria Elicia Martinez, in 1959. He became a father in 1960 with his daughter, Debra; in 1961 with his son, Bill Jr.; in 1963 with his daughter, Christine.

He retired as a Msgt in 1978. He spent the next 30+ years working for, and then retiring from the missile defense industry. He also owned his small business, Evans Engineering Services which sponsored a coed softball team.

He was considered to be a second father by many of his children's friends and by the children he and Maria fostered. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to his family, friends and neighbors. As a father lived he his life with the principles of thoughtful love, caring for others, forgiveness, and responsibility which he sought to instill in his children. To his wife, he left the knowledge that every day in their 52 year of marriage she was loved and provided for.

He is preceded in death by his father, Alfred, and his mother, Alice. Survived by his wife, Maria, his son Bill Jr of Lompoc, his daughters, Debra (Scott) of Albuquerque, NM and Christine (Michael) of Lompoc; 11 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.

The Viewing and Celebration of Life service will be held at Starbuck Lind Mortuary, 123 N. 'A' St., Lompoc. Viewing hours for the family will begin at 3 pm on Thursday, June 19. Friends may come from 4pm through 7pm. The service will be held on June 20, at 11 am and immediately following will be the interment and honor guard at Lompoc Cemetery.
