On July 13th, 2014, after a valiant four year battle with cancer, the world lost a beloved husband, father, brother and friend Richard Earl Evans. Born in Los Angeles November 28, 1933, young Richard lived every boys dream as bat boy for the Los Angeles Angels. His early exposure to the sport of baseball would turn into a lifelong passion. After attending and graduating from Pierce College, Richard enlisted in the United States Air Force where he proudly served from 1952-1955. After an honorable discharge he would return to the Los Angeles area. He found work at the Litton Cooperation, where he would meet the love of his life Shirley. The two married on September 2nd, 1961. In 1973 with a small but growing family Richard and Shirley relocated to Santa Barbara. Richard worked for Raytheon and helped spread his love for baseball while coaching Little League. After retiring from Raytheon in 1995 Richard found his true calling in life, spending time with his grandchildren. Shirley and he could be found at every event, sporting activity or graduation supporting the ones they loved. People will remember him for his big heart, quick smile and friendly humor. In passing Richard is survived by his wife of 53 years Shirley, children Kelly (Terry) Hargreaves, Steve, Theresa (Nicholas) Carlson, grandchildren Michael, Kristen, Alexis, Alana, Justin, Jacklyn and Benjamin. He was preceded by his parents George and Theresa, brother Keith, sister Elaine and son Michael. A prayer service will be held at St Raphael's Catholic Church on Tuesday August 5 at 6 PM. The family would like to thank Dr. Newman, Dr. Hamilton, Dr Eric Schroeder and Dr. Berger for their dedicated care and support. In lieu of flowers please consider contribution to Cancer Center of Santa Barbara.

We will miss you every day. We know you will be watching us from above, we love you more!
