Currie, Neil - Watertown  
Currie, Ben Neil Benham Currie, "Ben," died May 20, 2016, of natural causes associated with heart disease. Born April 8, 1961 at Waterbury Hospital, he grew up in Watertown, CT. He attended schools in Watertown, graduating from High School in 1979. Ben earned a B.A. at New York University and then, in 1996, a J.D. from Northeastern University Law School. He lived in New York City for most of his life where he practiced law, was a writer, and was active in Act Up and Queer Nation. By age 11, Ben was fully engaged in his passion for politics, waging his first campaign on behalf of the democratic party for George McGovern in 1972. He was also a competitive ice dancer and active in the U.S. Figure Skating Association. Throughout his life he remained ardent about politics as well as avid fan and advocate for the sport of ice dancing. Ben loved music and art. His friends and family are unanimous in experiencing Ben as uber-intelligent, witty, insightful, loving, funny, caring, persuasive, pensive, thoughtful, creative, and moved by the world's beauty. Ben is survived by his mother, Margery S. Kelso, New Milford, CT, his father Neil W. Currie, Southbury, CT, his sister Mary C. Currie, San Anselmo, CA, his brother and sister-in-law Robert and Polly Currie, Stratford, CT and their four children and nine grandchildren. Culotta, John - Danbury  
Culotta, John T. Dr. John Thomas Culotta, age 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Danbury Hospital. He was the devoted husband of Marie (Pizzano) Culotta. Dr. Culotta was born on October 21, 1929, in Waterbury, son of the late John and Mary (Mascari) Culotta. John graduated from Driggs Grammar School and was a 1947 graduate of Crosby High School. Following high school, Dr. Culotta entered the first class of Fairfield University and graduated in 1951. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, proud to serve his country for four years during the Korean Conflict. Upon discharge he entered Georgetown Dental School in Washington, D.C., where he graduated Cum Laude and presented the Valedictorian address in June, 1959. John returned to Waterbury and opened a private dental practice where he served the community until his retirement in 2005. Throughout his career, Dr. Culotta was a member of and served on the boards of many associations including the American Dental Society, CT State Dental Association and Dental Society of Waterbury. He served on the Dean's Board of Advisors of Georgetown University, was a member of the Fairfield University President's Circle and was a 3rd Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus. After practicing dentistry for 46 years, John retired to Newtown, CT to be close to his daughter and her family. Above all, he was a devoted husband, loving father, and most cherished grandfather. In addition to his loving wife of 64 years and best friend, Marie, John is survived by his beloved daughter Beth Culotta Adams and her husband Glen of Newtown; his three cherished grandchildren Olivia, Lauren and Brendan Adams and his brother Joseph P. Culotta of Waterbury. He also leaves his brothers-in-law A. William Pizzano and his wife Marie, Robert T. Pizzano, Sr. and his wife Carolyn, and James R. Pizzano and his wife Sandie as well as several generations of nieces, nephews, and cousins and many very special friends. He was predeceased by his brothers Dr. Anthony P. Culotta, Rev. Thomas Culotta, Charles Culotta, and Austin Culotta and his sisters Sr. Angela Culotta, CND and Rose Culotta. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at 10:00am from Maiorano Funeral Home, 95 Willow St., Waterbury, to Our Lady of Lourdes Church for a Mass at 11:00am. Burial with full military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5:00-8:00pm. Cann, Charlton R. In Loving Memory Charlton Richard Cann May 16 1939 – May 02 2016 Passed away on May 2, 2016 in Mesa, Arizona surrounded by his family. He is survived by his two Daughters Elizabeth Finney and her husband Shawn Finney of New Milford. Kristen Bluder and her husband Bryan Bluder of Mesa, AZ. Siblings Betty Arnold of Pennsylvania, Charles Cann of Mesa AZ, Ronald Cann of South Carolina, Susan of Waterbury, and Kevin Cann of Danbury; Grandchildren Sean Lavery, Cara Lavery and Rowan Finney. He preceded by his brother Raymond of Colorado and his parents Charlton and Marie Cann. He worked as a machinist at Republic Foil of Danbury and The Newtown wire company. He loved spending time with his family. He was well versed and loved American Indian culture and history.

Comas, Edwin Edwin Comas, 100, of Ridgefield husband of Rita (Winnis) Comas, died at his residence of Saturday morning, May 21, 2016. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 1:15 p.m. in St. Mary R.C. Church, Ridgefield.
