Walker, Albert J.
Mr. Albert J. Walker, 78, of Danbury passed away Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Danbury Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of Barbara E. (Cook) Walker. Mr. Walker was born July 13, 1935 in Mamaroneck, NY the youngest of eleven children to the late Emmanuel and Viola (Newkirk) Walker. He graduated from Mamaroneck High School furthering his education at Fayetteville State University earning his B.A. in Elementary Education. He also attended City College where he obtained two Masters Degrees in education and administration. Mr. Walker served in the US Army as an Interview Specialist during the Korean Conflict
. Albert worked in the Yonkers New York school system for 39 years as an elementary school teacher
, school principal retiring as an assistant school principal in 1997. He was an avid golfer, traveler and jogger. Besides his wife Barbara of 45 years, he leaves to mourn his passing, four sons; Bruce (Kimberly) Savage of PA, Kirk (Susan) Walker of NJ, Malik (Kelly) Walker of NY and Ebon (Janelle) Walker of NJ, eight grandchildren, one great grandchild, several nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral service will be held 12pm Thursday, December 12, 2013 at New Hope Baptist Church, 10 Dr. Aaron Samuels Blvd with Rev. Leroy Parker officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hour will be held 11am Thursday December 12th at the church. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:30am until the time of service. A special thank you to the Danbury Visiting Nurses Association.
