Antoinette (Hasbani) Madkour, 88, of Danbury, wife of the late Edward A. Madkour died on Wednesday evening, January 23, 2013 at Danbury Hospital. Mrs. Madkour was born in Beirut, Lebanon, April 5, 1924, a daughter of the late Gibran and Afifi (Boustani) Hasbani. She attended schools in Lebanon. A homemaker, Mrs. Madkour came to the United States in 1973 settling in Danbury and was a member of St. Anthony Maronite Parish. She is survived by three sons, Sami Madkour and his wife, Juliette of Danbury, Adam E. Madkour and his wife, Carol and John E. Madkour all of Saratoga Springs, NY; two daughters, Hanneh Merhi and her husband, Joseph and Samia Riley and her husband, John all of Bethel; two brothers, Joseph Hasbani of Sydney, Australia and Elias Hasbani of Beirut, Lebanon; a sister, Georgette Zaidan of Beirut, Lebanon, eleven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Madkour was predeceased by a daughter, Raymonde Madkour and by two brothers, Antoine Hasbani and George Hasbani.
The Liturgy of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 10 AM in St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 17 Granville Ave., Danbury with the Rev. Jean Younes, officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury on Friday, January 25, 2013 from 6 PM to 8 PM.
Contributions in Mrs. Madkour's memory may be made to St. Anthony Church.
