Cianflone Sr, Carmen
Carmen D. Cianflone Sr., age 96, of Danbury, husband of the late Loretta (Mongelia) Cianflone, died on Friday, March 15, 2013 at Vitas Healthcare, Lauderdale Lakes, FL. Mr. Cianflone was born in Carbondale, PA, October 29, 1916, a son of Pasquale and Frances (Critelli) Cianflone. He attended Carbondale schools, the Chrysler Motors Automotive School of Los Angeles, CA where he obtained his degree in Automotive Education and later graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a degree in Education. A resident of Danbury since 1947 coming from Syracuse, NY, Mr. Cianflone was an automotive mechanic in the Newtown and Danbury areas and owned and operated the former Carmen's Shell Service Center at 120 North St., Danbury. He also was an instructor with the Danbury Adult Education Program. In later years, Mr. Cianflone was a weekly guest of Radio Station WLAD hosting the call in shown know as the "Car Doctor". An avid photographer, Mr. Cianflone served as a photography instructor, gave slide presentations at local nursing homes and has work currently on display at the Danbury Fair Mall. He loved music, enjoyed playing the guitar and watching wrestling. He was a World War II
US Army Technician Fifth Grade serving in the Signal Corps as a Radio Repairman. Mr. Cianflone was a member of St. Joseph Parish of Danbury, Danbury Camera Club, Danbury Garden Club, the American Legion and Amerigo Vespucci Lodge. He is survived by his children, Carmen D. Cianflone, Jr. and his wife Barbara of Danbury, Maria Ripoll and her significant other, James Pegram of Margate, FL, Lauretta Cianflone and former husband, Teofilo Rodriquez and Schelene Heinze and her husband, Paul Tetrault of Ft. Myers, FL; five grandchildren, two spouses and five great grandchildren, Carmine D. Cianflone, III and his wife, Sherri and their children, Shannon and Carly, Robert W. Coffey, Jr., Maria Ann Coffey, Christopher W. Cianflone, Sr. and his wife, Lisa and their children, Christopher Jr., Nicole and Joseph and Thomas J. Cianflone as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Cianflone was predeceased by a brother, Nicholas Cianflone and by a sister, Kathryn Pizutto. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at 10 AM in St. Joseph Church, Danbury. Entombment will take place in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury. The family will receive friends at the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 from 3PM to 5 PM and 7 PM to 9 PM.
