Ethel A. Macchiaverna, 86, of Danbury, wife of the late Epolio "Al" Macchiaverna, died on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at the Danbury Hospital. Mrs. Macchiaverna was born in Muse, PA, October 2, 1926, a daughter of Steve and Annie (Rezetta) Fallat. She came to Danbury with her family as a child, attended Danbury schools and graduated from Danbury High School. Mrs. Macchiaverna was a retired mail clerk with the former Danbury Printing and Litho Company and a retired sales clerk with the former W.T. Grant Store of Danbury. A member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Parish, she was also a member of the Golden Dome Bakers, Rosary Society and a member of the former Altar Society. She is survived by two daughters, Gale Bassett and Bernadette Dennis both of Danbury; three grandchildren, Heather Bassett, Jennifer Danieli and Stephanie Dennis; four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Macchiaverna was predeceased by two grandsons, Christopher Dennis and Michael Bassett; two brothers, Steven Fallat and Ted Fallat and three sisters, Helen Loya, Elaine Cozza and Betty Fallat. The Liturgy of Chriistian Burial will take place on Monday, July 29, 2013 at 10:30 AM in St. Ann Melkite Catholic Church, 181 Clapboard Ridge Rd. (Route 39N), Danbury wiith Rev. John Cigan of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, Danbury officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury. The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury on Sunday, July 28, 2013 from 3PM to 5 PM. The Parastas Prayer Service will be conducted in the funeral home on Sunday at 4:30 PM. Contributions in Mrs. Macchiaverna's memory may be made to St. Nicholas Church Building Fund, 13 Pembroke Rd., Danbury, CT 06811.
