Straub , Jack W.
Jack, born July 13, 1923 passed away Thursday afternoon, July 3, 2014, at the age of 90, quietly in his home. He is survived by his beloved wife Barbara A. Straub of 55 years, his children Donna Ring, Ron Hartwell, Dave Hartwell, and Jeannie Straub, predeceased by Bonnie Howard and Dan Straub, grandchildren David Howard, Brian and Timothy Ring and Gail Abbott; Robert, Mindy, and Lauren Hiltz; David, Eric, Scott, and Shannon Hartwell; 15 great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
When not being the husband, father, grandfather or friend who never was too busy to give sound advice or to offer a helping hand, Jack was a lover of music who built his own guitar at a time when he could not afford one. An avid golfer, he loved nature, and managed to keep all the wildlife on his property well fed. With his distinct power of ingenuity, he could turn a ball of twine and a roll of duct tape into the International Space Station.
Jack was a pillar in the community; Founder of Straub Plumbing, Co-Founder and Chairman of the Board of the New Milford Bank and Trust, served on the Police Commission in New Milford, active and founding member of the New Milford Rotary, first recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award and many other civic organizations. Jack was a WW II Navy Veteran.
He was loved deeply and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
