James W. Emmans, Jr., age 51, of New Milford, Conn., devoted husband of Cherlyn (Bothner) Emmans, died peacefully at Danbury Hospital on Saturday, June 8th after a two year courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Danbury on July 6, 1961, son of the late James, Sr. and Jean (Hanley) Emmans. James had a great sense of humor, and was an avid sports fan, especially the Mets, Rangers, Jets and Red Sox. He enjoyed gardening, and loved listening to John Denver. Most importantly, James was a loving husband, father, brother and uncle. He will be sadly missed. In addition to his cherished wife of 28 years, Cherlyn, is survived by his son, Justin Emmans of New Milford; his brother, Leonard R. Emmans and his wife, Anita of Danbury; his nephews, Daniel, Tyler and Lucas; and his niece, Callie. Funeral services will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Tuesday, June 11th at 7:30 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday between 4 and 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Justin Emmans Scholarship Fund.
