Shirley "Sis" Linnea (Swanson) Baslow, of Washington, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at the New Milford Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on October 16, 1934 in New Milford to the late Esther and George Swanson of Washington Depot. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Eugene Baslow, daughter, Stephanie Baslow Holden and her husband Robert Holden and granddaughter, Lindsay Holden of Merrimac , MA; sisters Louise Miller of Roxbury, Dorothy Lee of Washington Depot, Esther Camp of Wedgefield South Carolina and Judy Williams of Kent, brothers Paul Swanson of Palm Coast Florida, Gene Swanson of Bantam and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Ruth Wassong, brothers George Swanson, Alan Swanson, John Swanson and Eric Swanson. She was a graduate of Washington High School where she took flying lessons along with her brother. She had a lifelong passion for gardening and meticulously maintained her flower beds. Sis shared her life with many animals and but was most fond of her cats. Often while working in the garden, her cats would be by her side hiding in the bushes.
Services will be held at the First Congregational Church in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Washington Ambulance Association.
