Barbar, Simon L.
Simon (Sam) L. Barbar age 86 of Bridgeport, beloved son of the late Louis and Helen Beikey Barbar died peacefully on Thursday October 17, 2013. Born in Bridgeport, where he was a lifelong resident. He was a retired Public Accountant for the State of Connecticut Department of Human Resources. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Navy aboard the aircraft carrier F.D.R.. Survivors include a brother, Michael L. Barbar of Bridgeport, a sister Mary B. Janczewski and husband Stanley of Shelton, nieces and nephews John L. Barbar Jr., Donna Barbar Halpin, Carol Testani and husband Anthony, David Barbar and wife Tina, Jacqueline Janczewski Nappe and husband Robert, Allyson Janczewski Meehan and husband Michael as well as several grand-nephews and nieces. In addition to his parents, Simon was predeceased by his brothers Abraham L. and John L. Barbar and his wife Nassa, also a special uncle Goerge Barbar. Friends are invited to attend the "Rite of Burial" on Wednesday October 23, 2012 at 11am in St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church, 5458 Park Ave, Bridgeport with the Archpriest Romanos Malouf and Arch Deacon Sami Bal officiating. Burial immediately following in Mt. Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. Calling hours will take place on Wednesday morning after 10 am in the church. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main St. Bridgeport.
