Barnhart, William S.
William S. Barnhart, 58, of Danbury, husband of Jeannie (Kolwicz) Barnhart, died suddenly on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Danbury Hospital surrounded by his family. Born and raised in New Milford, he was the son of Charlotte Bostwick and the late Hugh Barnhart. Bill loved horses, and as a young boy was very involved in horse show competitions, earning many ribbons. He was a life-long fan of the New York Giants and Yankees, and played in New Milford softball and touch football leagues for many years. Bill was also a skilled off-shore boat racer, and won numerous trophies as a result. Bill pursued his passion for gardening, and his expertise was exhibited in the meticulously manicured landscape designs at his home that he shared with his beloved wife, Jeannie and daughter, Alyssa. Bill, Vice President, Commercial Lending at Fairfield County Bank since 2006, was responsible for new business development in Fairfield, Litchfield and New Haven counties. He held similar positions at NewMil Bank and City Trust in Danbury. He was actively involved in the community, and served as co-chairman of the Good Scout Luncheon. He was a member of the Sons of Italy, Amerigo Vespucci Lodge in Danbury and also served as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. His past community involvement also included serving as co-chairman of the Housatonic Chicago United Way, volunteering for the United Way of Northern Fairfield County and he was a member of the New Milford Lions Club. Bill graduated from Western Connecticut State University with a BA, and also graduated from the New England School of Banking at Williams College. In addition to his wife Jeannie and daughter Alyssa, Bill is survived by sister Carol Barnhart, step-mother Carole Zancanata Barnhart, step-daughters and their spouses, Jennifer and Rob Madore, Heather and Darren Powers and their children Brittany, Haley and Kiley Madore and Madison and Julia Powers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 15, 2013 at 10:30 AM in St. Peter Church, Danbury. Interment will take place at the discretion of the family. The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury on Thursday, February 14, 2013 from 5 PM to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to
