Dr. Wolfgang Andrew Schnitzler, 84, of New Milford, CT, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at New Milford Hospital. He was the husband of Janet Sparling Schnitzler. Dr. Schnitzler was born in Wiesbaden, Germany, August 9, 1928, son of the late Frederich and Ellen Alma Durer Schnitzler. He graduated from Woodmere High School in Woodmere, NY, Hofstra University, and New York University Dental School. He served in the US Army from 1955 to 1957. Dr. Schnitzler practiced Dentistry in South Salem, New York for 35 years, retiring in 1993. He has been a resident of New Milford since 1995, moving from South Salem, NY. Dr. Schnitzler is survived by his wife Janet of 28 years; three sons, Fredrick Schnitzler of Greensboro, NC, Wayne Lavender of Virginia Beach, VA, and Alan Lavender of Kirkwood, MO; five daughters, Rebecca Swenson of Accord, NY, Amee Schnitzler of Durham, NC, Elise Fitzsimmons of Clinton, CT, Debbie Lavender of Kirkwood, MO, and Diane Kuznezov of Burdet, NY; 13 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife Joy Erickson in 1981.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at 11 AM at the New Milford United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at South Salem Cemetery, South Salem, NY
Friends may call on Tuesday, March 5, from 5 to 8 PM at the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge Street, New Milford.
