Henrietta Skidd Obituary

Henrietta "Sam" Eleanor Skidd, beloved wife of John D. "Jack" Skidd, died peacefully September 20, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. Henrietta was the daughter of the late John M. and Loretta (Pilichowski) Beckmann. She was born in Queens, N.Y. and grew up in East Northport, Long Island, N.Y. Henrietta was prede-ceased by her husband, Ronald John Okpych and by her son, Ronald John Okpych II. She is survived by her dear son, Christopher Okpych and his wife, Carrie and their son, Jonathan; her grandchildren by her son Ronald, Ryan, Kayleigh and Leighanne. Henrietta is also survived by her sister, Annamae Grossman and her husband, Bob and her sister, Maryann Eichin. She was predeceased by her sister, Loretta Giarraputo. Henrietta lived in Smithtown, L.I. shortly after her first marriage and then lived for many years in New Milford, until several years ago when she moved to Ocala, Fla. to escape the New England winters. Mrs. Skidd was a registered nurse and in addition to working in several Long Island hospitals, she also worked for many years at Danbury Hospital and in local physician's offices. In addition to her husband, children and grandchildren, whom she doted on, Henrietta was a "cruise devotee" and spent many a happy cruise in many areas of the world. She also enjoyed her boat on Candlewood Lake for many years. She will be deeply missed by her family and extended family and friends. Contributions in memory of Henrietta, may be made to Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut, 405 Main St., Danbury, CT 06810. The Honan Funeral Home 58 Main St. Newtown is assisting the family.

My long time very good friend is now gone. My sympathy to Henrietta's family. I have known "Sam" a long time, and she will be missed so very much.
