Kenneth Wittmer Obituary

Kenneth Edward Wittmer, age 71, passed away on September 30 in Newtown. He celebrated his 50th wedding anni-versary with his beloved best friend and wife, Patricia (O'Donnell), this past August. Pat and Ken lived in Newtown for 40 years prior to moving to Beacon Falls in 2008. He is survived by his three sons: Kevin (wife Heidi) of Paxton, MA; Brian (wife Karen) of Colden, NY; and Kenneth (wife Laura) of Sandy Hook, CT. He was the proud grandpa of six: Keith, Kevin Richard, Alex, Sydney, Madison, and Jordan. He is also survived by his brother Charles (wife Mary Jo), his Aunt Wanda Dymkoski, his cousin Leo (wife Susan) Dymkoski, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Dorothy (Wittmer) Michnich. His family was the most important thing in his life. Ken was born on March 13, 1939 in White Plains, NY, the son of Mildred (Dymkoski) and Donald Wittmer. After graduating from Warren Harding HS in Bridgeport, he served in the US Army Medical Corps overseas and subsequently returned to continue his education, receiving Electrical Engineering degrees from the Univ. of Bridgeport (BS) and UConn (MS). Prior to starting his own consulting company, Ken worked for several large corporations: Sikorsky Aircraft, Graphic Sciences (where he collaborated in the development of the modern fax machine), Burroughs, and General Data. Ken loved traveling with his wife Pat, gardening, and puzzles - especially Sudoku. He also greatly enjoyed watching the UConn women's basketball team; In lieu of flowers donations may be made to CPTV (www.cptv2.org/UConn/). Calling hours are on Sunday (December 5) from 2 to 4:30pm prior to a memorial service at 4:30 pm in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, CT. Interment will be private.

I worked with Ken at Micrognosis where his genius was the driving force in breakthrough products made the company a key name in financial institutions around the globe. I then had the pleasure to work with him at another firm where I got to know Ken on a more personal basis. He was always witty and caring, willing to take the time to explain things to us mere mortals. He will be missed.
