Eleanor Landwehr Obituary

Landwehr, Eleanor Doris.
Eleanor Doris Landwehr, 86, of West Redding, died on Sunday morning at her home after a long battle with Parkinsons Disease. Eleanor was the wife of Carl A. Landwehr. Carl and Eleanor were married in 1948, living first in Pennsylvania and then in the Bronx, NY but spent weekends at their home in West Redding, CT before moving there in 1961. Carl and Eleanor celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary in May of 1998.
Ellie was born on April 26, 1927 in Nazareth, PA, the daughter of Fred and Anna (Correll) Borger. She was a graduate of Nazareth High School in Nazareth, PA. Ellie was a cook and cafeteria supervisor within the Redding school system for over twenty five years and worked part-time for Loree's kitchen in Bethel. She loved to bake and her favorite desserts were Black Forest Cake and German Apple Cake. Ellie was a parishioner at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Redding; a member of the Arion Singing Society in New Milford; the German Cultural Society and the Ladies Auxiliary of the West Redding Fire Company.
Ellie is survived by her sister, Brenda Baker, of Centerville, OH. She is also survived by her four sons, Robert Landwehr of Middletown, Fred Landwehr and his wife Claudia of Brookfield, Ted Landwehr and his wife Sue Ellen of Bethel, and Al Landwehr of West Redding. Ellie's son, Michael Landwehr, passed away in 2011. Ellie is survived by five grandchildren, Laura Landwehr Anziano of Cleveland, TN, Christina Berk of Bethel, Karen Glowicki of Wolcott, Erick Landwehr of Bethel and T.J. Landwehr of Bethel and three great grandchildren, Katelyn, Jonathan and Wesley.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the many caregivers who helped Eleanor during her illness.
Calling hours are 4 to 7 pm, on Friday, November 29 at the Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Avenue, Bethel. The funeral will be on Saturday, November 30 at 11 am at St. Patricks Church in Redding, CT, with burial following in St. Mary's cemetery in Bethel, CT.
