Goadby, William M.
William Morgan Goadby, of Evergreen Woods, North Branford, CT., passed away peacefully on August 17, 2013, at the age of 97. He was born May 27, 1916, in Nassau County, New York, and grew up on Long Island. His parents maintained an apartment in Manhattan and as a child, when he was not traveling, he lived in the city. He later lived in West Redding, CT, Stratford, CT, before moving to North Branford. He graduated from St. Georges School in Newport, Rhode Island, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Finance from the University of Virginia. He worked for Pan American Airlines, Otis Elevator, and was CEO of Dickson Syntaloid. At Evergreen Woods he was an active participant in the Country Store and the Finance Committee. Bill was more than respected and beloved by all his fellow residents. He enjoyed traveling, reading, cooking, bird watching, and music. He made Scrabble tile racks and bird houses in his woodshop. He was a lifetime member of the Audubon Society and Nature Conservancy. He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur A. and Joanna Morgan Goadby, his wife Guilianna C. Goadby, and sisters Elsie Bloom and Dorothy Womrath. Bill is survived by his daughter, Joann P. Goadby Lind and her husband David, his son, David M. Goadby; three grandchildren, Stacey Joan Lococo, Sean James Lococo, and Tina Goadby Rodgers; four great grandchildren; and his devoted wife, Frannie Armstrong. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 23, 2013, at Evergreen Woods, 88 Notch Hill Road, North Branford, at 11:00 a.m. The Keenan Funeral Home has care of the arrangements. www.keenanfuneralhome.com
