Agnes DeJong Obituary

Agnes DeJong of Brook-field, previously of Middletown, N.J., passed peacefully into the Lord's hands on December 24 after a brief illness. Born in Wheeling, WVa. on January 21, 1919, Agnes, along with her beloved husband, Izaak (Jack) of 65 years, lived a rich life of hard work, sacrifice, religious conviction, and enjoyment. She was predeceased by her parents, Stanislaus and Alexandria; her son, Richard; and eight brothers and sisters. She leaves fond memories for Jack; son, Leendert and wife, Maryellen; daughter-in-law, Leigh; grandchildren, Thomas and Margaret; and many nieces, nephews and friends to enjoy. For some 17 years ,she was a manager of the former Two Guys Department Store in Middletown. Agnes and Jack were avid square dancers with membership in the Middletown Ramblers and Pine Square Clubs. While in Middletown, she actively participated in local senior groups including those at St. James, Red Bank, Middletown and Holy Family. Agnes very much enjoyed spending time with all of her friends including the Middletown "exercise bunch" and the folks at the Village at Brookfield Common, where she participated in many activities. A wake is planned for Wednesday, December 29 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, CT. A Mass will be held on Thursday, December 30 at 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, Red Bank, N.J. with burial immediately following at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Middletown, N.J. Friends and family are welcome. Flowers or a donation to your favorite charity in memory of Agnes, would be most appreciated by her family.
