Hello my friend,
Doesn´t seem like it´s been 11 years since we reconnected and I had the precious opportunity to tell you what you meant to me. It was a few short years of childhood smiles and waves that changed me for a lifetime. You will always be my hero, Al; my knight in shining armor. I know that you never knew how much your kindness and friendship meant to me. That´s what made it all the more special that I got the opportunity to tell you. No matter how bad my day started out, it always got better after I saw you in school. Even today, a bad day can change quickly with memories of you and your sweet smile. Rest peacefully, Al. You have deserved it.
Much love always,
Joanne

Still and always will be my Superhero. Thanks for letting a sad little girl know that she could put a smile on someone’s face. Not just one day, Al, but every day of our very young lives. I will remember you always.

Happy Birthday Albert. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about you. I miss you, I miss us, I miss your voice, our calls, your smile, your laugh, your beautiful eyes, your wit, your knowledge, the smell of your Aramis, your hugs and most of all, your unconditional love. Ten years has not softened the pain of losing you.

I hope that you are at peace, happy and celebrating with the rest of the family today. I’ve told you this before, but I want to thank you for being the best brother ever!

Please pay a visit when you have time.

With much love, your Puddums (Paula)

The question this site is asking in this little box is - "What would you like to say about Albert?" There are so many things to say, to remember, too many to write here. Al was my dear brother. He was so smart. He was so funny. I miss him every single day. I miss his voice. I miss his moustache tickling my face when he would give me a kiss. I miss being able to call him and talk about our guilty pleasure TV shows like The Real Housewives. I sure could use one of his hugs right about now. Albert was a wonderful brother and son. I loved him very much. This is what I have to say for today about my dear brother.

Happy Birthday, Al My knight in shining armor always. You saved my life just by being you and allowing me to be me. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to tell you, after so many years, what a bright light you were in my life. I've never forgotten your kindness and shy smile. I never will. Rest easy, my friend and know you are loved.

Where do I begin?
Where do I start?
The day you left us, it broke my heart.
I know you said you weren't afraid to die.
But I still wish I had stayed with you....that last night.
It all happened so fast and the loss of you left me numb - it took a long, long time, to somewhat overcome.
I still miss you now - and will forever - my one and only - my dear sweet brother.
Love, Your Little Face

Dear Al,
I can't believe that it took me so many years to find my hero and then you were gone. But I'm so glad I got to say thank you and tell you how much you meant to me. I know you're busy doing God's work now, but if you get a chance I hope you'll pop down and give another bullied child that sweet smile that said don't worry, everything will be okay. I love you, my hero, and will never forget you.
Always,
-Joanne

Hey Al! Big Al, Al-bear, Albie, etc. Not going to say the usual - how much I miss you, think about you every day. I want to leave just some happy memory here to make you laugh. Remember when we spent a week at the farm when we were about 9 or 10 years old? Just the two of us. And we decided to make chocolate milk and somehow splashed it all over my pink shorts and matching blouse and all over the pantry? Grandma got so mad at us and chased us out of the house with a broom. Which we thought was hysterical! Hope that one makes you smile. Love always, Jan

Dear Al,
Not only today, but every day I am grateful for the kindness of your sweet smile and little wave that you sent to a very lonely, scared little girl so many years ago. You made an impression on my heart that remains today. Thank you Al. I'll love you forever. -Joanne

Thank you for the visit this morning. I've been asking you to come to me and you popped into my dream at the very last moment. We were standing and I had my arms wrapped tightly around your waist. Your chin was on my head and I could smell your Aramis. I whispered that I love you and you told me that you love me too. You are younger, with a full head of dark hair and so very handsome. The Mamas and the Papas were playing in the background, "I call your name". Knowing your sense of humor you threw that in as a bit of irony since I was just thinking the other day that some of those lyrics were how I felt when it comes to you - "I call your name, but you're not there". Nice move! I reached up and kissed you and then I was awake.

There is something each and every day that makes me think of you. I miss you terribly. I love you more.

Thanks for spending time with me this morning. Next time I hope we can visit longer.

Now when I call your name I know you're there.

Love, Puddums

I came across a picture the other day, of us--headed out to my senior prom in that zany hippie dress I made. A million fragments of memories came back to me. 12 formative years we shared; learned about ourselves; each other. School dances, first cars (was yours a Fairlane?, a Galaxie? I can't quite remember) first kisses, the love your family bestowed upon me, your apartment in Boston, joy rides to Bear Mountain, your beautiful eyes...Our love was boundless...

Dear Heinlein Family,
Please accept my deepest sympathy on the loss of Al. I am saddened and shocked to hear of his passing. I was in elementary school with Al at Westover School in Stamford. I moved away in 3rd grade to Brookfield, but recognized your father, George's, name in an obituary this past January and contacted Al to offer my condolences via Classmates.com. We had several pleasant email exchanges over the past month, catching up on each others lives. He had just told me of the loss of an aunt just after his Dad. And now, Al. I am so very sorry for all you have been through. I am also grateful to have had the opportunity to reconnect with Al. He was every bit as sweet and accomplished in his adult life as he was as a child. I pray that you all find peace in the wonderful memories of Al.
