Athanasia Damas

Athanasia Damas, age 77, of Danbury, wife of the late Henry G. Damas, died at Danbury Hospital on Thursday, September 23rd. She was born in Lambeti, Greece on October 8, 1932, daughter of the late Demitri and Vasiliki (Pappagiannou) Kolokas. She was a member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Danbury. Mrs. Damas was a loving homemaker who cherished her family, and was a talented seamstress. She enjoyed being active in the Danbury Senior Center and volunteered with the Retired &Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) through the American Red Cross, knitting items for those in need. She also enjoyed gardening and spending time with her many friends at Palace View in Danbury. She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Eugenia Dworetsky and her husband, Anthony of Danbury; her son, George Damas of Danbury; and her three grandchildren, Thomas and Laura Dworetsky, and Christina Damas. She is also survived by her brother, Panos Kolokas of Greece and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters and one brother. Funeral ervices will be held at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church on Saturday, September 25th at 10:00am. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Friday evening between the hours of 6 and 8 pm. Trisagion Service will be 7:30pm.
