Barbara Favicchia, 81, of Ridgefield, CT, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2014 at Masonic Care Facility in Newtown, CT. She was the wife of the late John E. Favicchia. She was born in Queens, NY, March 10, 1933, daughter of the late Nicholas Platt and Natasha Zwygun Platt. Barbara was a secretary for ESSO in NYC before her marriage, and later worked for Reader's Digest in Pleasantville, NY and as an Avon representative from her home. She was a member of St. Francis Church, New Milford, CT. She lived most of her married life in North Salem, NY where she was vice president and secretary at Hollow Rock Farm, Inc., the family equine business which included riding lessons, Quarter Horse breeding, a boarding stable and farrier services, provided by her late husband. She loved gardening, bird watching, and keeping meticulous grounds for everyone to enjoy. She and her husband then built a beautiful home together in New Milford, CT where they enjoyed several years in the quiet country setting. Barbara is survived by two daughters, Barbara A. Favicchia of Maine and Renee (Jim) Reid of Wichita, Kansas; three sons, John A. Favicchia (Jessica Cherry) of Ridgefield, CT., Richard Favicchia (Janet Hobbs) of Mahopac, NY, and Robert (Angela) Favicchia of Danbury, CT; six grandchildren, Ryan Reid, Allison Drake, Heather Klaassen, Aryssa Wernle, Brandon Favicchia, and Lisa Favicchia; a great-grandchild, Jennings Drake; one sister Tamara (Jimerson) Hardwick; and a special friend and care-giver, Christina Plancon. Burial will take place on Saturday, Aug. 9th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Cemetery in New Milford, CT. Arrangements by the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge Street, New Milford, CT.
