Da Silva, Carolyn M.

Carolyn DaSilva, age 84, of New Fairfield, Connecticut, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2014, after a long illness. She was the beloved wife of Anthony P. DaSilva Sr., mother of Anthony P. DaSilva Jr., mother-in-law of Karen C. DaSilva and grandmother of Benjamin, Emily and Kathleen DaSilva.
Carolyn was born on a farm in Lee, Massachusetts on August 19, 1930, the youngest of 13 children. Her mother passed when she was 7 years old and was raised primarily by her sister Mary in Torrington, Connecticut, where she attended high school. During high school she worked at a pin factory in town. After graduating high school she moved to Danbury to attend Nursing College at Danbury Hospital. After graduating from the nursing school with an RN designation she went onto spend a career in nursing at Danbury Hospital that spanned 45 years ( a hospital record ). Carolyn enjoyed the love of her extended family as well as all friendships she developed over her many years of nursing at Danbury Hospital. Later in life she developed an interest in quilting and joined a quilting club which she grew to love and provided her with a source of new friends who she cared for deeply. Lastly, she was a devout Catholic and attended mass faithfully at St. Edward the Confessor church in New Fairfield.
She is survived by her son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, on Thursday, June 19th from 5-7 pm. On Friday, June 20th a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am at St. Edward the Confessor Church in New Fairfield. The burial will immediately follow the end of mass and a reception will be held at the church thereafter.
