McGorty, Charles C.
Charles C. McGorty of Summerfield, FL and Brookfield, CT passed away Saturday, November 30, 2013 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Judith A. Scicli McGorty. Born on February 28, 1931 in Greenwich, CT he was the son of the late Bernard and Kathryn Clark McGorty. Mr. McGorty served in the U.S. Air Force and was a Veteran of the Korean War. He retired from teaching business and marketing classes at Norwalk High School for over 30 years. He was a lifetime member of the Norwalk Federation of Teachers Local 1723, the Association of Retired Teachers of Connecticut, a 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus in Belleview, Florida and the American Legion. He was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees and New York Giants. Charles received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business, at Fordham University, a Master's of Degree in Education from the University of Bridgeport and a 6th year Certificate from University of Connecticut. In addition to his wife Judith he is survived by eight devoted children, Charles C. McGorty Jr. and his wife Lisa of Wantagh, NY, Michael J. McGorty and his wife Judy of Brookfield, CT, Thomas P. McGorty and his wife Celeste of Shelton, CT, Judith A. Orlovsky and her husband Dan of Oxford, CT, Dorothy M. Leary and her husband Paul of Brookfield, CT, John W. McGorty and his wife Lisa of Wilton, CT, James B. McGorty of Norwalk, CT, and Philip T. McGorty of Fairfield, CT. Charles also had 17 loving grandchildren, Charles III, Shawna, Collin, Kyle, Michael, Steven, Connor, Jessica, April, William, Sean, Kevin, Evan, Shane, Kirsten, Katelyn and Hayley. He also had 4 great grandchildren, Arianna, Moriah, Baker, and Savannah-Grace, a brother Bernard T. McGorty and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday December 6th at 11 AM, meeting directly in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main Street, Trumbull with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be private in Gate of Heaven Cemetery at a later date.
