David Green Obituary

David Bernard Green, of Plainview, NY, died on September 24, 2010 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. David was born June 11, 1929 in Dorchester, Mass., to Sadie (Kramer) and Jacob Green. He was the beloved husband of 54 years to Mildred (Posen) Green, and the loving father of Ilene and Dr. Mitchell Prywes of Danbury, and Gary and Nancy Green of Baldwin, NY. He was the proud grandfather of Bryan and Lisa Prywes, and Adam and Daniel Green. He is also survived by his brother Maurice Green of Sharon, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Dorothy Milder and Frieda Liebowitz. David graduated from Suffolk University with a B.S. in Business Administration and Boston University with a Masters in Education. He was a Business and Accounting teacher at Hicksville HS for 31 years and an Adjunct Professor at Nassau Community, SUNY Farmingdale, and Dowling Colleges. He was a member of the Plainview Jewish Center for 45 years. Services are scheduled for Sun at noon at Star of David Memorial Chapels in West Babylon www.jewish-funeral-home.com. Burial will follow at Wellwood Cemetery. Family will observe shiva thru Wednesday at 33 Steven St in Plainview. Contributions in David's memory may be made to the Hospice Inn at 70 Pinelawn Rd Melville, NY 11747.

Dear Mrs. Green, Ilene, Gary and family,
How saddened we were to hear of Mr. Green's passing. We remember with such fondness his gentle kindness, his kind support of our family in so many moments, and of course most dearly we remember his deep friendship with our father Enzo. To console myself, I imagine these two dear friends ... who were like brothers... reunited now in peace with their Heavenly Father whom they both loved.
