Dorothy Smith Obituary

Dorothy C. (Belicka) Smith, age 78 of Danbury, 1previously of Greenwich, passed away at Bethel Health Care Center, on Wednesday, December 8, 2010, after suffering a sudden illness. Dorothy was born in Port Chester, N.Y., daughter of the late John and Winifred (Green) Belicka. She attended Greenwich High School and had worked for many years as an editorial assistant for the Greenwich Times. She is survived by her daughter Kelly Catanzaro of New Fairfield; four grandchildren, Justin, Laurie, Joseph and Matthew Fortunato; and a great-granddaughter, Mariah Fortunato. She was predeceased by her daughter, Laura Lee Smith. Funeral services will be held in the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, on Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m. Cremation will take place at the direction of the family. Friends may call in the Green Funeral Home, on Sunday evening from 5 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut, 405 Main Street, Danbury, CT 06810, who offered care, comfort, and compassion to Dorothy during her brief stay.
