Edward Nazzaro Obituary

Edward Nazzaro, affectionately known as Sonny, age 68, died at home after a short illness in Las Vegas, Nev. He was born in Danbury on September 1, 1941, son of Nellie (Klecha) Nazzaro of Danbury and the late Salvatore Nazzaro. He attended local schools, graduating from Henry Abbott Technical School. Following his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, he worked for the technology firm Perkin Elmer and was proud to be part of the project leading to the first space satellite mission. Sonny moved to Las Vegas in 1973, eventually becoming a casino executive at the Riviera Hotel and Casino, where he retired after 21 years. He loved all sports, especially hunting, water skiing and snow skiing. He loved four-wheeling in the desert with his favorite companions-his wife and son. He was a Mason, a member of the American Legion and the Italian American Club. In addition to his devoted wife of 30 years and mother, he is survived by a son, Jason Nazzaro of Las Vegas, Nev.; a sister, Angeline Nazzaro Parzuchowski and her husband, Paul of New Milford; uncles and aunts, Frank and Gilda Nazzaro of Danbury, Frances and Russell Bracco of Buffalo, N.Y., Grace Nazzaro of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Mildred Klecha Mancuso of Hickory, N.C., Louise Klecha and Shirley Klecha, both of Danbury; a nephew, Bret Parzuchowski of Eugene, Ore.; as well as numerous cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 24th at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Danbury with Father Dennis Mason, OFM Conv. officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury. There will be no calling hours. Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury is in charge of arrangements.
