Ernest Albin Obituary

Ernest Clifford Albin, Jr. of Weston entered heaven December 2 at Norwalk Hospital at the age of 77. He was surrounded by his family when he passed after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was the loving and devoted husband of his childhood sweetheart, Judith C. Albin. Born November 3, 1933 in Norwalk to Ernest C. and Annie F. Albin of Rowayton, CT, he was the eldest of four children. Ernie graduated from Norwalk High School in 1951 and attended Kent's Hill Prep School of Maine and the University of Maine at Orono. He served his country in the Navy during the Korean War from 1954 to 1958. He was employed by the JH Dunning Corporation of North Walpole, NH for 39 years and retired in 2000. During his 50 years in Weston, Ernie was a member of the Norfield Congregational Church and served on the Board of Trustees. He was a member of the Weston Volunteer Fire Department and EMS squad. Ernie was also an active member of the Weston Historical Society and was involved with Weston's Little League Baseball program as a coach and as a commissioner. He was a member of the Georgetown Lions Club and a member of Weston's Commission on Aging. Besides his wife Judy, Ernie is survived by his children, Ernest C. Albin, III of Danbury and his children Ernest IV and Charles; Lorraine E. Miklovich and her husband, Dean, of New Gloucester, ME and their children, Amie, David, Benjamin and Samuel; and David S. Albin and his wife Deby of Bethel, and their children Emily, Andrew and Zachary. He is also survived by his three sisters, Elaine Deysenroth and her husband Paul of Weston; Linda Hoyt and her husband, Chris of Saratoga Springs, NY; Nancy Albin and her partner, Cheryl Tardy, of Sanford, ME and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at the Norfield Congregational Church in Weston on Saturday December 11, 2010 at 11:00 a.m followed by a reception at the Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to be made to the Weston's EMS, the Whittingham Cancer Center at Norwalk Hospital, or a charity of your choice.

Dear Judy and all Albin Family Members,

Jean joins me in expressing our sympathy and great sorrow over the loss of Ernie.
My friendship with Ernie and Judy goes back to our childhood in Rowayton. Ernie was very influential in my attending college at the University of Maine, and he was the prime mover for me attaining membership in Sigma Nu fraternity, which is still a big part of my life. I shall be forever grateful to him.
Our friendship continued to the present time. What a great guy! I will continue to have fond memories of him forever.
