Eugene Ward Obituary

Eugene Keith Ward, age 70, of New Milford, passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2010, at home. He was the husband of Eva Ann Bilodeau Ward. Mr. Ward was born in Conway, South Carolina, June 20, 1940, son of the late Eugene Vance and Thelma Sawyer Ward. He served in the U.S. Navy for 22 years, retiring as Chief Petty Officer in 1978. After retiring from the Navy, he worked as a railroad engineer for 30 years, the last 24 with Metro-North Commuter Railroad, retiring in July 2008. In addition to his wife of 34 years, he is survived by two sons, Michael Ward and his wife Dawn of Lebanon, OH, and Arthur Ward and his wife Beata of Fort Ann, N.Y.; two daughters, Geneva and her husband Roger Levesque of Richmond, VA. and Amanda and husband Stephen Peterson of New Milford; two brothers, Ronald Ward and his wife Susan of Conway, SC and LeVerne Ward and his wife Lejeune of Loris, SC; a sister, Sara-Gene Sullivan of Hartsville, SC; eight grandchildren, Emily, Daniel, Noah, Hannah, Jonas, Audrie, Alexander, and Dylan; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Friday, September 17, 2010 at 10 A.M. at the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge Street, New Milford. Burial will be at a later date at Quantico National Cemetery, Virginia. Friends may call at the Lillis Funeral Home on Thursday, from 5 to 8 P.M. and on Friday, from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Contributions in his memory may be made to New Milford VNA Hospice, 68 Park Lane Road, New Milford, CT.
