Frank Brought Obituary

Frank Brought, age 78, beloved husband of Pat, passed away on October 13 surrounded by his family at home. Born on February 27, 1932 in Marlboro, N.Y. to Bertha (Van Leuven) and Elias Brought, he was the youngest of their 11 children. He served in Germany with the Army 1st Division from 1952 to 1955 during the Korean War. An accomplished steel guitar player, Frank owned Candlewood Music in Brookfield. He taught guitar lessons to many local residents and their children. He played with his band "Frank Brock and the Countrypolitans" at many local venues, and also performed at the Danbury State Fair as a featured musician. The sounds of his talent will be greatly missed by all who knew him. After his store closed, he worked for Baldwin Co., selling musical instruments throughout the Northeast. He also worked at Amphenol in Danbury and Fairfield Hills Hospital in Newtown. Frank was a proud veteran, and joined VFW Post 10201 in Brookfield. He rose through the ranks beginning as Post Commander 1988 to 1995, eventually achieving the rank of VFW State Commander of Connecticut in 1998 to 1999. One of his proudest moments was the dedication of the memorial statue at Williams Park. It was his vision to begin fundraising efforts to build this lasting tribute to those that serve our country. He was a member of New Milford VFW Post 1672 in recent years. Predeceased by his first wife, Ann and son, William, he is survived by his wife, Patricia (Merritt Swift) Brought; his daughters, Sandra Brink of Danbury, Sheri Brought of New Milford, Ruth May of Budd Lake, N.J.; and granddaughter, Amanda Brink. He is also survived by Patricia's children, Jeff Swift of New Milford, Allyson Farrell and husband, Peter of Litchfield, Aaron Swift and Susan Getchell of New Milford; grandchildren, David Murray (currently serving in Iraq), Collin Farrell, Kaylee Farrell and Kyla Farrell; and his one surviving brother, Robert Brought Sr., his wife, Doris of Danbury; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Frank's memory to St. Paul's Church, 174 Whisconier Road, Brookfield, CT 06804 or Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut, 405 Main Street, Danbury CT 06810. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul 's Church on Thursday, October 21st at 10 a.m. with a gathering in the Parish Hall immediately following. Cremains will be interred during the service at the Memorial Garden Wall behind St. Paul 's. To light a candle of hope and remembrance please visit our website www.BrookfieldFuneralHome.com.

Rest in peace Uncle Frank. Even though I haven't seen you in many years, stories of your calming pipe smoke still bring back the best memories. May you be happy in heaven and may steel guitars strum on in your memory forever.
